The flood situation in Assam remained grim on Thursday with eight more people, including three children, losing their lives in the past 24 hours. The death toll due to floods and landslides in Assam has risen to 159 since April this year. On the other hand, nearly 30 lakh people in 2,608 villages spread across 25 districts of the state still remain affected by the floods. Meanwhile, incessant rains battered Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur, triggering floods and landslides that snapped connectivity and affected lives. The number of deaths caused by floods and landslides in Arunachal Pradesh this year rose to 18, while in Manipur, eight people were killed and 72 are missing as a massive landslide hit the railway construction site in Noney district.
